The Coconut Chair is a spacious lounge chair with an instantly recognizable shape that makes a striking accent in diverse settings such as lobbies, 

lounges and waiting areas. The designer himself compared the chair to a segment of a coconut cut into eight pieces" but with reversed colors. 

The comfortable one-piece upholstery is covered with leather or fabric, and the expansive shell offers great freedom of movement.

The popularity of the Coconut Chair isn’t a tough one to crack. This striking design has found a place in many design museums, 

and its inviting curves have landed it in a number of homes around the world. Originally designed for comfort and movement,

 it’s been updated with new, more sustainable materials and more upholstery options—all in the spirit of George Nelson’s iconic design.

With the Coconut chair, we clearly identify George Nelsen’s taste for humour and creativity, 

which has often been attributed to the favourable historical context of the United States as well as the « less-is-more » 

philosophy inherited from his Scandinavian predecessors (Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen, etc.).

 George Nelsen described his chair as a coconut that has been cut in 8 pieces. 

The inside of the white shell is covered by padding made from one single piece and can be covered with either textile or leather. 

George Nelson’s occasional table completes the chair perfectly.

Shell glass fibre reinforced plastic in white.

Upholstery one-piece polyurethane foam padding. Hopsak fabric, leather or Premium leather.

Base tubular steel, polished chrome finish.

Glides fitted with plastic glides for carpet; felt glides for hard floors optionally available.
