The Gorilla Chair is a quirky and comfortable lounge chair designed by Marcantonio for Scarlet Splendour. The chair has an ape-shaped seat with a rich black leather covering. The Gorilla Chair is a highly distinctive statement piece which works well in both residential and commercial spaces.

The Gorilla Chair is available in five colours: black, teal, ivory, green and rust.

Collection

The Forest Collection designed by Marcantonio brings together in a playful and quirky way the connection between Man and Nature. The collection, which started with only one chair, now includes a plethora of sculptural wonders: chairs, cabinets, sofas, dining and side tables, stools and poufs, benches, coat hangers, mirrors, rugs and enormous jars. Some items are available in multiple finishes. With its quirky shapes, elegant colour tones and brass finishes, the collection brings a sense of luxury and eccentricity to any interior environment.

Designer

Italian designer Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba attended the Art Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and soon began to create unique pieces of design in parallel with artworks.  The connection between Man and Nature is Marcantonio's favourite theme: his main inspiration comes from nature and its life principles. His aim is to turn art into design - and vice versa.

Gorilla is a chair reminiscent of a majestic gorilla, designed by Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba for the Scarlet Splendor brand. Made with leather fringes. Suitable for residences, hotels and commercial premises. This chair is part of the Forest collection. Available in Rust and Teal version.

For his creations Marcantonio has introduced “Vegetal Animal”, a concept that evokes strong emotions to represent Nature. From the large and sculptural Tree Cabinet to the small Log Lamp, he has combined the strength of luxury materials and finishes with his unique language. The furniture borders on caricatures of animal and plant shapes with solid, glossy colors, but suggests an "elegant irony" with the use of brass, suede, premium wool, a chic color palette and meticulous inlay work. The idea was to literally bring a forest to every home through the use of whimsical shapes and elegant color tones that create a sense of eccentricity and luxury when the collection is viewed as a whole or even as individual works of art. The meticulous inlay work and refined craftsmanship have produced an unprecedented brilliant collection, Forest, experiencing the connection between Man and Nature, through the eyes of our Italian sculptor and designer Marcantonio.
