The Pipe armchair by Moroso was born in 2015 from a concept that counterpose the bulk to the fine, preferring a choice of counter-trend compared to 

the most common search for the slim shapes. In its simplicity, Sebastian Herkner’s design is articulated around the most reassuring aspect of oversize: 

the simplicity. The structure, essential and very robust, consists of a powder-coated aluminum tube with a diameter of 80 cm. Resting on it, the rounded 

seat cushion is voluminous, veiled suggestion of the idea of the inflatable module. Thick and pronounced, the backrest in cold foamed foam offers 

a pleasant roundness, perfect for combining maximum comfort and aesthetic lightness.

Simple, original and in some ways extremely fun, Sebastian Herkner’s armchair was later taken up by the designer and remodeled in 2016 in two

 equally iconic variants: the Pipe sofa and the Pipe chaise longue. Old shapes and new artistic solutions come together in these two collections 

where it is impossible not to notice eclecticism and great imaginative ability.

In their extreme versatility, the Pipe collection is perfectly suited to both living and contract spaces, by approaching sofas and armchairs of various styles.

staying light, ethereal. The design is thus structured around the most reassuring aspect of the oversized: the simplicity.

The minimalist and rugged structure is built with a powder-painted aluminium tube with diameter of 80 mm. Resting on it is a seat cushion with a rounded physique, 

a covert suggestion of the idea of the inflatable module.

The back, like a bold parenthesis, promises comfort. The effect, as well as the natural appeal, is that of a pleasing roundness, casual and lightweight.

Instead of recent designs using more and more thinner metal pipes I wanted to go the other way. My idea was to use a big metal pipe for the construction

 as well as function. The 80 mm steel pipes transfer the aesthetics of skids to my design and give them a specific dynamic and character. 

This dynamic recovers also in the back rests. The massive upholstered backrest provides a super soft comfort. Pipe is unique and figurative. 

The selection of strong colors and fabrics underline the claim of a character and companion.

CONSTRUCTION

Seat is stress-resistant flame-retardant polyurethane in varied densities and polyester fiber on hardwood frame. 

Back is injected flame-retardant polyurethane foam and polyester fibre.
