The Falcon Chair Low Back by Sigurd Ressell is a not just designer icon or a statement chair, it is a uniquely comfortable piece of art.

The story started in 1971 when Sigurd Ressell designed the chair, with inspiration from, among other things, the hammock. The chair’s suspension/construction provides a nice movement and unique seating comfort. The chair was an immediate success and was for many years the most important product for Vatne Møble.

The Falcon Chair is the classic and original Falcon chair, recognized by its tufted buttons.

Sigurd Ressell Style: Falcon Chair and Ottoman 

In 1968, Sigurd Ressell became the chief designer for Norwegian furniture company Vatne, and his seminal Falcon Chair (1970) soon followed. Originally, the hammock-like chair was produced with a chrome frame, but was redesigned with a lighter laminated base in 1974 for easier distribution. This is a wonderful addition to any art deco home, or the modern contemporary home.

Our Falcon Chair and ottoman was inspired by the original steel frame version with some important distinctions. First, we use 12mm #304 Stainless Steel flat bar that has been polished to a mirror-like like finish. We use heavy canvas for the hammock effect. Italian Leather and a combination of foam and feathers are in each cushion. Finally, we increased the back seat height to provide comfort for tall people, so they can sit back and relax in style. True to the original, this chair does not recline further or swivel.
