This Maralunga chair was designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in 1973. This is an original version of the seventies. Reupholstered in a taupe bouclé. With steel structure. The backrest can be raised or lowered for total comfort. It won the compasso d'Oro award in 1979.
675 Maralunga Armchair
Maralunga is an emblematic series of seater of the iContemporanei collection by Cassina and designed by Vico Magistretti. Steel frame. Black, grey or beige plastic material base. CFC-free polyurethane foam and polyester padding. Seat cushions in polyurethane foam and polyester padding. Back with a movable headrest which is instantaneously convertible from the low to the high position. The sofa headrests are individual and independent for each seat. Fixed fabric or leather upholstery.
The Maralunga model comes as an armchair, two or three-seater sofas in different widths, and pouf. It all stems from the idea of wanting to materialize comfort through a sofa. Winner of the Compasso d'Oro in 1979, thanks to an adjustable headrest for a high or low backrest version obtained by inserting a simple bicycle chain inside the foam of the backrest. On the occasion of its 40 years, Cassina presented a renewed interpretation with fabric or leather upholstery, with characteristic stitching along with the perimeter profile, to make it even more contemporary.
The Maralunga armchair, winner of the Compasso d'Oro award in 1979, is an icon of comfort by Cassina created by architect and industrial designer Vico Magistretti. Its peculiarity lies in the adjustable backrest that allows for a high or low back version. The soft and enveloping shapes of the polyurethane foam seat give it a timeless look that can adapt to any type of furnishing. Maralunga armchair is available both in fabric and in leather with the possibility to choose also the color of the plastic feet.

Vico Magistretti
Ludovico "Vico" Magistretti (1920-2006) was a designer and architect, considered one of the fathers of Italian Design. His works are characterized by a strong expressive language, famous and loved all over the world. These include the Fritz Hansen Carimate chair, the Eclisse, Chimera and Dalù lamps designed for Artemide, the Atollo lamp for Oluce, the Maralunga sofa and the Nuvola Rossa bookcase for Cassina, destined to become legends of design.
