The butterfly chair, also known as a BKF chair or Hardoy chair, is a style of chair featuring a tubular frameand a large sling hung from the frame's highest points, creating a suspended seat. The frame of the chair 

is generally painted black.Turbosmooth on the leather parts has a level 2 subdivition.

Made from bovine hides from Brittany, France, tanned with vegetable extracts of mimosa and quebracho. 

In the Barcelona workshop, the cover of our BKF chair is hand-sewn with German Gütermann threads. The 

master craftsman combines the use of triple feed head machines and hand stitching to achieve the highest 

level of detail. This cover rests on a 12mm diameter solid steel frame, hand polished and painted in black epoxy. 

This is the original: the brown-leathered, mythical Butterfly chair that has travelled all over the world. It is not a whim, 

nor fashion, it is a design icon that rises in value over time. Some consider it “more than a chair, an entire theorem of 

the modernist project; an inspiring historic model”. 

It is a museum piece that has had the luxury of residing in the MoMa in New York. The BKF chair radiates history, culture 

and tradition through every pore. This is a story that completes itself with the passing of years, which enriches it and perfects 

it even more.
