Description

A stunning and organic bed created by design duo Gabriele and Oscar Buratti in 2013 for B&B Italia, the Buratti brothers have used their experience gained when creating the Doyl chair but on a much larger scale.

The Alys bed features a stunning shape which is internally crafted by B&B Italias signature tubular steel frame which is covered in flexible cold shaped polyurethane foam and then covered with either thick leather or embossed thick leather.

Alys features a thin and comforting headboard crafted from thick leather which is “pinched” at the base, this creates a more organic look and feeling or lightness in design.

A sheet of leather “pinched” in two places at the base: here is where the movement and natural inclination of the Alys headboard originate. A headboard with a welcoming and protective shape, of great formal effectiveness, that has thin perimeter strips marked by a lengthwise seam.

Gabriele & Oscar Buratti

Gabriele Buratti, architect and professor of Interior Design at the Faculty of Design of Politecnico di Milano (2003-2010), and Oscar Buratti, architect, form the architecture and design studio Buratti Architetti.

The studio is transversally involved in projects of different scales, from the architecture of buildings and urban areas to interiors of houses and commercial spaces, from the design of furniture and lighting to the exhibition and showroom design, in an intense and varied professional path, in which themes, places and typologies, brands and people, materials and workmanship, mingle together contaminating one another.

They design residential, commercial and industrial buildings, interventions in historic centers and renovations of complex buildings, villas and interiors of offices, dwellings, shops and showrooms, with the aim of combining culture and professional specialization, experimentation and technique, original vision and product quality. They have many collaborations with important brands in the field of furniture design as well as in the retail sector.
